Lut stepped into the kitchen and looked around with a bewildered expression. "My shoes! Where are my shoes?"

"They're on the shoe rack," I told him.

He stared at me in mock bewilderment. "Someone stole my shoes! I left them right here." He pivoted ninety degrees and gestured to the bare floor beside the archway.

"Yes. I notice that you never put them there when we had the shoe rack there."

"Where could they be? I can't go any where without my shoes!"

I sat down in the living room to put my boots on. "And apparently can't hear anything, either."

"What?"

Fortunately, he managed to find them eventually.

Few men can hear without their shoes on. You have surely realized this by now.

Truth to tell, few men can hear with their shoes on, either.

I have always suspected that every man possesses the "Selective Hearing" gene. *nods wisely*

Or it just could have been the lack of shoes. ;)

I make sure there are too many pairs of shoes scattered around for this to happen.

It can come close. Sometimes the wife takes all the shoes and tosses them into the closet where they belong, in a pile right in front of the shoe rack.

I don't think I've ever seen a shoe rack.

I normally keep my shoes in the most obvious place -- hidden between the couch and the coffee table on the exact opposite side of the apartment from the doorway.

That sounds really hard to load with shoes using your feet. Especially the top shelves.

Shoes are overrated anyway. -_-

From what I hear about Missouri winters, the only useful shoe is a house slipper. :)

I certainly wouldn't go out in weather like that! It would be an excuse to drink hot chocolate and toast my feet by a fire, and I'd definitely want them barefoot for that. -_-

My shoes and boots cluster around the door, waiting to ambush me...
