Shoeless Lut
Jan. 4th, 2009 03:52 pmLut stepped into the kitchen and looked around with a bewildered expression. "My shoes! Where are my shoes?"
"They're on the shoe rack," I told him.
He stared at me in mock bewilderment. "Someone stole my shoes! I left them right here." He pivoted ninety degrees and gestured to the bare floor beside the archway.
"Yes. I notice that you never put them there when we had the shoe rack there."
"Where could they be? I can't go any where without my shoes!"
I sat down in the living room to put my boots on. "And apparently can't hear anything, either."
"What?"
Fortunately, he managed to find them eventually.

Date: 2009-01-05 01:27 pm (UTC)Shoe racks come in a variety of styles. Ours looks like three wire shelves, stacked one atop the other with eight inches or so between them, each a foot wide and about three pairs of shoes across.

If we only had one pair of shoes each, I wouldn't even bother with it. But we've got a bunch that get worn semi-regularly: Lut has dress shoes, regular sneakers, and beat-up sneakers for yard work. I have sneakers, running shoes, snow boots, flip-flops that I wear around the basement, and dress boots that I wear with skirts. And sandals for the summertime, which I won't be wearing for the next few months.
...
That's not including the closetful of fancy high-heels, thigh-high boots, and stiletto platforms, that I basically don't wear and which stay in the closet. Or the basement, for the ones that overflowed the closet.
...
I have way too many shoes.
