The Future Now

This morning, as I walked to work, I took out a pair of headphones and pulled up an episode of "My Little Ponies: Friendship Is Magic" to watch while I was walking.

I thought about two things while I did this. First, I'm kinda old for this cartoon.

Second: that watching cartoons while walking is exactly what my ten year-old self thought the future ought to include. Inside of me, she's smiling.

I was not a very cute child, as I remember myself. More of an ugly duckling, really. Which is, I think, still something to smile about. :)

Yeah, I wasn't thinking physical cuteness as much as geekiness and how you'd be intellectually at ten. :-) (Daniel's 11, so I'm pretty familiar with the age, hee.)
