The Future Now

This morning, as I walked to work, I took out a pair of headphones and pulled up an episode of "My Little Ponies: Friendship Is Magic" to watch while I was walking.

I thought about two things while I did this. First, I'm kinda old for this cartoon.

Second: that watching cartoons while walking is exactly what my ten year-old self thought the future ought to include. Inside of me, she's smiling.

I've never really thought about the future in concrete terms, as in 'here's what it's going to be like when I'm older'. I think I expected a robot holocaust, honestly.

Wristwatch TV was totally part of my future. I loved TV as a kid. But video on demand to my mobile phone would've been totally EVEN BETTER. :)
