Yay me!

Yesterday, Lut didn't pick me up from work, so I didn't go to the post office. But I did go today, and got my stories and envelopes and cover letters weighed and stamped and put in the mail. I have now, officially, attempted to get not one, but two short stories published by magazines which even pay money for contributions. By October, my first rejection letter should be in my hands. Woo!

I'm so proud of myself.

Now I'm going to see if this entry is too long for LJ to accept as a post.

Woohoo! Yay, Rowyn! I'm eternally impressed by folks who can get off their rumps and actually send writing out for possible publication. Heck, these days, I'm impressed by folks who actually sit down and write at all. *she waves to her own motivation; it's lounging on the beach somewhere a long, long way away*

It's a lot easier now to submit writing than it was ten years ago -- so many places have their submission guidelines on websites. And there are more websites listing markets, too. No need to snail-mail out queries for interest, or to get submission guidelines. All I had to do (once I'd already written the stories, back in June) was a little web research, write out a cover letter, and then buy envelopes and stamps so I could mail it.

Now I've got lots of envelopes and stamps so that it'll be even easier to do again. All I need now is to write more stories. Or get the ones I have written rejected, so I can submit them some place else. ;)
