Brownies

I made brownies. That may be my big accomplishment for the day. Or failing, given that I don't really need to be eating brownies.

They're pretty good brownies, too. First brownies-from-scratch recipe I've used that I liked. It was a bit of a nuisance finding a recipe that I could make without going shopping. I only had two eggs and no baker's chocolate, which eliminated a surprising number of brownie recipes.

I've sent out a few emails, read up on LJ, and have been browsing the Wall Street Journal. It's been a pretty good day. Except that I'd like to write some fiction today. For some reason, I'm not feeling very motivated, as if my fingers want to type but my muse is still on some ride at Six Flags. Going whee! on the Dragon's Wing, probably. I'm almost tempted to start yet another fragment in Unfinished Tales. That is what UT's for, after all. But I haven't decided yet.

Apparently, though, I don't have anything to say beyond this, even in LJ. Maybe I'll open up one of my fiction stories-in-progress, put my fingers on the keyboard, and see if anything comes out.

But really, though, how often to people really "need" to be eating brownies?

I know that personally, it's only happened maybe... twice in the past year.

(Suddenly, I'm hungry. No, must resist! Oh. Wait. There aren't any brownies in the house. And I'm too lazy to cook ... at this hour. Ah! Saved by laziness! Drat it.)

Ooo. Brownies! Your pasta may be lacking but your deserts are delicious. I ate all the holiday snack food you sent me. And you know for me that's saying a lot. *grin*

Oh, give my pasta a break. You only tried it, what, once? So I was having an off night. Sheesh. ;)

I'm glad you liked the baked goods, though! Maybe I'll even do that again next Christmas, after all. :)

The Lady Anne and I were in a restaurant last night, and looking at a dessert. It was interesting, and we talked about it a bit:

"Lava Cake! That looks good!"

"It sure does, for a rich chocolate desert. But just on general principles, it's rather weird looking. If you didn't know what it was."

We had just eaten, and were too full to try this. A pity.

You know, apart from the heavy cream, I have all the ingrediants for that on hand. If I substituted semi-sweet chocolate chips for the semi-sweet chocolate bar.

Still. I've already got these brownies to eat. Right. :)
