My muse kicked on last night, giving me an entire scene for Prophecy while I was taking a bath. Naturally, it's not a scene that fits neatly into the outline anywhere, and it's yet more character development for the single most developed character in the book. But, hey, a scene is a scene. By the time I was done writing it out, I had less than a hundred words to go to complete my quota for the week. So I stuffed some description into another scene to finish up. Now, anything I write today or tomorrow will be extra. Which I'd still better do. But it's nice to have the minimum out of the way.

I forgot to take a look at the lunar eclipse last night. Rats! Shockwave had mentioned it in his journal, and I'd meant to at least take a peek, but I totally spaced it. I even got an email from [livejournal.com profile] level_head noting when it was at its peak (later than I'd thought!) but I was already in bed by then. Ah well. No use lamenting it now. (sigh.)

I woke up at 3AM from a dream. I remember that it was kind of interesting but that I was too tired even to grab my noteook off the headboard and write down what I remembered. Sometimes I'll burn dreams into my conscious memory just by replaying them enough times, but not this time. I can't remember a thing. Well, except that one of my cats made a mess on the carpet in it. Somehow, I'm sure that wasn't the highlight. Why do I remember that?

Here I sit, yawning, with ten more minutes to go before I make my final go-to-work preparations and leave, and I can't think of anything else to write. Huh. Guess I'll go read the WSJ.

Well, drat, I didn't know about this eclipse, until I read [livejournal.com profile] foxmagic's journal and learned about it well too late. Tsk. I'm just not up on things.

Hurrah for your muse! Though I admit some disappointment at you not capturing any dreams.

I remember fragments from some of my own dreams, but they've been largely uninteresting as of late. Sometimes, it will seem as if there's a fragment of a story going on, but things so quickly shift from one thing to another. There's not enough of any one "story" strung along for me to have anything worth reporting.

If there are any themes, though, for some reason Star Wars has been figuring in a lot. I've had a lot of dreams about being in something vaguely resembling the Star Wars universe (though only barely - largely just reinforced by this feeling in my brain that "This is the Star Wars universe" without much reinforcement by actual content). I recall one dream where I was being hunted down by members of "Rogue Squadron," including a couple of self-styled Jedi in their number, in the post-Empire era. I was cast in the role of a TIE fighter pilot, trying to keep from being blown to smithereens by the lot of them. It basically consisted of me flying and spinning the thing around a great amount of floating debris in space, weaving into tight holes, and narrowly avoiding obstructions (or occasionally glancing them and sending sparks flying from the panels) ... and then on occasion seeing something like one of the hot-shot pilots turn the corner and encounter the opening that was only barely large enough for ME to get through, and ... well ... BOOM. Then lots of radio chatter as the surviving "heroes" pledge that I'll pay for that. And I wasn't really happy about it, because I knew these were "good guys," and I didn't want them to get blown away. I just wasn't keen on the idea of being reduced to space dust myself. The dream "morphed," as dreams often do, into something entirely different, before I got to find out whether I got away or not. ;)

Seeing the dream would be nice. But I'm anxious to see what's new in Prophecy. =)

Totally unrelated...
