The third panel seemed like a bit of a non-sequitur, in fact. I expect that he would not understand, but he seemed to understand so well that he sighed. This was a misfire, in my opinion. Traditionally, an asterisk of puzzlement/doubletake would have been shown.

One might take that to mean "he understands that Danae is trying to make him go away, and he knows that she's succeeded."

I thought it was funny for rather different reasons than the author intended, I'm sure. My thoughts: "Hey, she uses LJ. Now, why does her father look so confused ... ?" :)
