On reflection, I'm not sure this is really an SF cliché. Isn't it more like "In fiction, everyone is good in bed"? :)

If your Piers Anthony, the Protaganist(I love that word) and all the females he engages with are good in bed. All the other males tend to not be - but the women stay with them for other reasons, while sleeping with the hero on the side.
