Terrycloth

Terrycloth passed away very early on Monday morning, August 21st, a little after midnight, I think. I had just left his hospital room for the night. I knew it was coming and had flown out early Saturday morning, so I was able to see him before he passed.

I don't know if anyone reads my blog doesn't already know this from elsewhere. If this is how you found out, I'm very sorry.

I want to write so much more. I don't want to write at all. Just thinking about this makes me cry again. No one is expecting me to write about Terry but me. Maybe it's all right to wait.

I can pretend to be okay for really long stretches of time now, like whole days, even. Convincingly enough to fool myself.

It's not fair.

We weren't close, he and I, but I did enjoy much of his writing, and made comments now and then in the relevant places.

The past couple of years have taken a dear handful of creative friends and acquaintances from us, it seems
