An hour and a half of research, and forty-five minutes of explanation later ...

And one of my two querulous customers is reasonably satisfied with our figures.

And that was one that looked easier to unravel.

Perhaps I'll wait 'til tomorrow to tackle the next.

You either (1) overcame a difficulty of understanding, or (2) overcame an attitude difficulty, or perhaps some of each.

Some of each, I'm afraid, though he wasn't too obstinate. Not as bad as a caller I had later that day. And I spent a lot of time before I called him back trying to get nice hard numbers to prove that what I knew had happened had, in fact, happened. Usually I can do this with relatively little trouble, but in this case it was so onerous that I gave up and winged it. If he'd called me on it, I would have had to spend another few hours tracing out the exact interest accruals on three revolving loans for a period of several months ... not fun. Happily, I was able to convince him without resorting to that.
