Tweets from Another World

I was talking to bard_bloom a few weeks ago about Twitter and Bard mentioned that it tweeted occasionally under the handle "Sythyry".

"ICly?" I asked.
"No, OOC tweets."
"Awww. Sythyry tweeting would be totally awesome. I would definitely get a Twitter account for that."

I did get a Twitter account anyway (LadyRowyn), but I find that I still think fictional Twitters would be more fun. I know some other people do it (the Foglios have a Twitter of Othar, for example). So I was thinking of tweeting as one of the characters from my stories or RPGs. Probably a minor character, since the main characters have convoluted stories that would be harder to tweet around. Most of you aren't familiar with most of my characters, but some of you are and, anyway, polls are fun. You can always judge based on the very brief character description. >:)

And if "tweets from another world" form a sort of xenobiography (I may have just coined a word) -- then why not Zenobia herself?

Every man jack seems to have a twitter account -- but what about Jack? He could post Signs.

The reason I didn't put Zenobia or Madden down is that time in Scales/Birthright, even when I'm writing regularly, moves very slowly relative to real world time. So tweets that represented what the character was doing on a given day would quickly get way ahead of the story and inevitably give away parts of it. Also, I tend to write *everything* that they do as part of the story, so there aren't gaps that the could tweet about.

Unless I did tweets from the perspective of younger versions, which would probably work and could be fun.

I'm sorta curious (totally not familiar with Twitter). Just how different - or :shudder: complicated - is it compared to older IMing software like MSN or AIM? I find myself hesitant to get wrapped up in the newer fangled networking things like Twitter and Facebook, although I agree that creating a fictional character through such means sounds rather interesting.

Of course, I've just now gotten back to keeping a live journal after many years. :D I've started translating a Japanese fantasy/horror novel in it if your interested, but I hope you don't mind if I add you as a friend in the meantime.

Twitter is exceedingly simple, much simpler than LJ, arguably simpler than AIM & its ilk. Adding people to follow is a little annoying when I'm using the browser on my smartphone, but it's easy enough with a normal desktop browser. You sign up for an account, and once you're logged in, there's a box on the homepage to enter 140-character tweets in (it tells you if your tweet is too long) and the same page shows you and everyone you're following. If you search for someone, or click on their name from anywhere, you go to their page and get a "follow" button that you can click to add them to the list of people you're following. That's pretty much the whole of Twitter.

I don't find the content nearly as interesting as LJ, but maybe that's because I don't follow that many people on it, so I don't get much of a sense of 'conversation' from it.

That's a pretty interesting project! Creeeeepy prologue. And I certainly don't mind you friending me. :)
