Forecasted nighttime lows for the week: 78-80. Daytime highs: 94-97.

Looks like jogging home after work is not going to be my prefered mode of exercise this week. Guh.

It's freezing up here in Seattle, compared to our normal temps this time of year! =P You should come up for another visit! ;D

Mmm mmmm Agricola. =9 We just played a 4-player game last Sunday. In under 2 hours!!! Believe it or don't!

I've been thinking about trying to play it 1-player by myself just to see how far it's possible to get without the other players in the way. If I could build a complete farm, I might feel happy that the game has enough turns. If not, I may have to add more houserules than I've already got. ;D

Yeah, my big houserule right now is an extra action space I made that reads "Bake Bread -or- Plough Field -or- 1 Occupation, 1 Food for First, 2 Food for Second". This counters the lack of a second Plough Field action in the 5 player game, and the lack of a second Occupation action in the 4 player game. And it's silly to think that you can't bake bread more often. Even with this extra action though the game is pretty tight and you still get squashed for actions a lot. While it alleviates SOME of the pain, it doesn't eliminate all of it.

Someone noticed on the back of the rules book though that there are some alternate and interesting ways to play the game. One that sounded particularly interesting was that you pull X number of Occupation and Minor Improvement cards and draft them around. Another, though it would be fairly lengthy, was to just let each player take a turn drafting out of the complete deck. Another was to draw 10 cards and keep 7, which is much faster than drafting and helps ensure you get a better set of cards. It's become clear to me that getting a good set of Occupations and Minor Improvements is really an important key to doing well in the game.

One other houserule I've been flipping around in my mind is... Just let anyone use any action, even if it's already been used. Then the only thing people are competing over are the buckets.
