Sometimes truth has less moral ambiguity than fiction.

Very glad to hear that Captain Phillips was successfully rescued! President Obama has vowed to halt the rise of piracy in this region; I hope all his efforts are equally successful. It's depressing to read about the hostages from other countries still being held. :( [Expletive deleted] pirates.

It's a messy situation, and I wish President Obama the best in dealing with it. I'm glad this stand-off turned out as well as it did! It was a very pleasant surprise to hear that it was resolved over the weekend.

Not that I don't think the pirates are nuts to be indignant that we shot them in response to an act of violence. I agree, that's pretty much zero moral ambiguity. "Hey, we only threatened your life!" is not a particularly compelling argument. :)

Oh dear, violent pirates promise more violence. #1 enemy is #1 enemy, even MOAR! I don't understand why sinking them, arming crews, and even sending out the privateers and the PMCs are options non-gratia. The catch and release program doesn't seem to be working.
