"I'd like to surrender," I say through my villainous avatar to the Longbow heroes gathered in the city square. "I'm tired of this life of crime. I want to pay my debt to -- "
Longbow Nullifier hits YOU for 95.5 points of crushing damage!
Longbow Flamethrower hits YOU for 53.2 points of fire damage!
You are on fire! You take 53.2 points of damage.
"Ow! Hey, quit it! I'm trying to surrender here!"
Longbow Warden hits YOU for 73.8 points of lethal damage!
Longbow Nullifier hits YOU for 45.5 points of crushing damage!
You are on fire! You take 53.2 points of damage.
"Ouch! Look, can't we talk -- "
You are on fire! You take 53.2 points of damage.
Longbow Minigun hits YOU for 100.8 points of lethal damage!
Longbow SpecOps stuns YOU!
"ohhhh .... uh ... about this ... ?" My avatar weaves dazedly from side to side.
Longbow Nullifier hits YOU for 52.5 points of crushing damage!
You are on fire! You take 53.2 points of damage.
Longbow Warden hits YOU for 73.8 points of lethal damage!
" ... well, you're going to put me in jail after this, right?"
You are on fire! You take 53.2 points of damage.
You have been knocked unconscious!
Engaging transporter ....
You wake up at the hospital.
"Hey," I say to the indifferent interns. "Is this the prison hospital? When's my court date?" They don't answer me, and no one stops my avatar from wandering back to the street.
"I just can't get the hang of this," I mumble. I spot a group of Wyvern agents, also heroes, and move my avatar to them. "Hey, I'd like to surrender ... "
Wing Talon Agent hits YOU for 93.8 points of lethal damage!
Wing Talon Agent hits YOU for 103.8 points of lethal damage!
"... *sigh* "

Date: 2008-04-18 06:18 pm (UTC)See, think of it this way, if you let people go back and forth, it'll blur the line between villains and heroes (not that there was much of one to start with considering you can't side with your own villain factions even) and make it trivial; if you only let people do it once, they'll go 'OMG mistake, life on hero side sucks so, so much' and want to go back. Maybe give people a limited number of times they can do this (once) and then allow them to redo it every N months.
Sadly the villainous side turned out to be just too much like the heroic side for me to want to keep playing on my Corruptor. I've started logging in now and then in an effort to get my Defender to 50 though.

Date: 2008-04-18 06:26 pm (UTC)And ZOMG heroside does suck. >:) We were playing our baby Justice heroes last night and the majority of the missions we could get were "run here, talk to this person" or street sweeps. OY.
Which annoys me because, from a character standpoint, I prefer to play heroes. :)

Date: 2008-04-18 06:29 pm (UTC)The occasional havoc mission was fun villain side but I guess I want something more... Talky? Multiple options to succeed? Picture a cross of Deus Ex and Bioware RPGs and MMOGs and you have something that won't be ready for the next ten years but will be unutterably awesome.
Digression: 20 million influence for Celerity: Stealth enhancements. Worth it?

Date: 2008-04-18 06:44 pm (UTC)I've gotten teleport stealth IOs for $10K inf. Best strategy is to bid reasonable but low (like 1mil inf) on a bunch of them that don't have any up, and wait a couple days, or weeks. Sometimes a lowball will come through.

Date: 2008-04-18 06:46 pm (UTC)I never got a stealth IO. Some people love them. I dunno about 20 mil inf worth, though. You can get really cheap ones for teleport. :)
Oh, and Lut, Terrycloth and I are currently playing most weeknights from 7PM-9:30PM PDT, if you ever want to join us. :) I think Terrycloth usually plays a little later than we do 'cause he's west coast too.

Date: 2008-04-18 07:19 pm (UTC)I hadn't thought of teleport stealth, I'll have to price those out!
What are you guys playing now?

Date: 2008-04-18 07:51 pm (UTC)34ish virtue villains, 26(?)ish virtue heroes, 40ish virtue heroes, 12-24ish pinnacle heroes, lowbie infinity villains, and the level 14(15?) pressure cookers on justice (/storm controllers).
And yes, super speed + stealth IO (running or jumping can be put in Sprint, so those are useful to any player) is invisibility except against a few enemies with +perception -- turrets and rikti drones, mostly. Oh, and KoA.

Date: 2008-04-19 07:51 am (UTC)Really, it's jump and fly that always get me killed in mayhems. Especially fly since it's so slow.

Date: 2008-04-18 09:55 pm (UTC)Somewhat taking a break now, trying to get other things in my life fixed up and distractions aren't helping. So I'm off and on.

Date: 2008-04-18 07:53 pm (UTC)Of course, challenge helps with not falling asleep while waiting for enemies to fall over and not activating powers because you'll run out of endurance. Sooo looking forwards to stamina.

Date: 2008-04-19 11:31 am (UTC)Are you sure "romance" is the right word for that?
So, how is chapter 5 coming along? :)

Date: 2008-04-20 12:13 am (UTC)5's about half done, assuming it ends up being the same length as the others. Sooner or later I need to actually have some plot, though, which is starting to worry me.

Date: 2008-04-20 12:41 am (UTC)I thought you already had a plot: "why did someone want the Divergent Series sabotaged?"
Or do you mean "the chapters have to be more obviously relevant to the plot"?
