For the last eleven years or so, Lut has often suggested on workdays that we call in sick and stay home together. It's part of the morning ritual: I give him a hug before he leaves for work (or before I do, if I'm leaving first). He holds onto me, sighs, and says, "I'm dragging you back to bed. Let's call in sick." And I'll smile and shake my head or say no or talk about earning money or whatever else.

Today, for the first time in ten years, I said, "OK."

He went to work anyway. And he called me a tease! Hmph.

But will this kind of opportunity happen again? Sometimes, you just have to seize the day! Or... in this case, avoid seizing the day, I guess. Unseizing the day. Seizing the day for ceasing the day.

Wait. Confused now.
