I've only got four pages left of "Peace and Joy" to post. I've been toying with the idea of doing another comic. It's nice to have something to put in my journal every day. I've even considered doing another 24 hour comic, because (apart from the first 6 hours) the experience was a lot of fun. I didn't get a big "I can do anything!" bounce from it the way
koogrr did, but it was trippy. Like visiting another world for a day; immersive in a way that only the best writing or roleplaying sessions have been. I don't know if I'd get that feeling if I did it again, but I'm curious. Probably not curious enough to burn a whole weekend on it, though -- at least not any time soon.
This got me thinking about art, and my New Year's resolution to finish four pieces, and creative projects in general. I don't have much of a system for directing my creative energies. This year it's been officially guided by the principle of "If it's creative, and I want to do it, then it's Important." That formally tossed aside my queue of priorities and "I should work on A instead of B because A is better/more popular/further along/etc." Overall, I like this system; it may not be as productive but it's a lot more relaxing. And I'm still getting things done, even if I do have weeks like the last couple where I feel like I haven't done anything at all.
Still, as I contemplated doing another comic, I found myself wondering what other people would be most interested to see me work on next. And being as this is LJ, I've decided to take a poll. :) I expect that, whatever people say, I'll continue in my "I should do whatever I want to do" mode -- although granted, having a bunch of people interested in one project or another might affect how much I want to do it. :)
A few general notes about the creative endeavors listed below:
Sketches and inked drawings are fairly quick activities for me to engage in, and doing more sketches doesn't seem to increase the likelihood that I'll actually paint/color/digitially complete anything. I've been sketching a lot more this year but I haven't colored anything more complicated than an icon. Inking a sketch doesn't require a whole lot of dedication or time, but coloring something does, because it takes so much longer. I rarely color pieces for myself because it's been so long since I've felt sufficiently satisfied with both and concept and my execution of it that I've wanted to see it in full color. On the other hand, I tend to be prouder of pieces I've colored than any other artwork. So that's why those are part of two different options.
Online roleplay is my main social outlet (I know, this is sad, especially given that I only RP four or five times a month). RP requires creative energy: sometimes less than regular writing, and sometimes more. So it's on the list with everything else, even though I tend to categorize it more as "social" than "creative".
Note: for purposes of the poll, "me" = Rowyn and "you" = you, the person filling out the poll.
