My senior year of high school:
What year was it?
19987-88
What were your favorite bands or musical artists?
Suzanne Vega was definitely my favorite. (I still do like her; I was just listening to her music earlier today, both recent stuff and old). I may have been listening to Aha, too, or I might've been over them by then. Ummm. I'm not sure who else I particularly liked that year. I was buying tapes at the time and all of them have died or vanished in the intervening years, so I can't really check. I could look at my notes and see if I mentioned anyone....
Let's see: I quoted Thomas Dolby, whom I liked but didn't own an album by. I transcribed the entirety of "Fat" by "Weird Al" Yankovic; I liked him a lot. I also transcribed "She's Like the Wind", from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack ... Oo, and Pet Shop Boys, I liked them quite a bit. Hmm. That's all I wrote down. Of those, the favorites would probably be Weird Al, Suzanne Vega, Pet Shop Boys, and Aha.
What was your favorite outfit?
A long white skirt with a purple blouse and a triangular lace scarf that I used as a belt. And a wide-brimmed, round-topped purple hat.
What was up with your hair?
Pretty much the same as it is now, actually. Maybe only came to mid-back then, and probably had even raggeder ends.
Who were your best friends?
I hung out the most with Charlotte in my senior year, because she was the only member of my gaming group who still gamed and hadn't left for college or the military or gone insane or whatever. I ran her through a deliberately Monty-Haul-styled D&D campaign. It was actually not bad as the campaigns I ran back then went.
What did you do after school?
Watched TV, read fantasy and sf books, listened to MTV (I rarely "watched" MTV as my sole activity, but I liked it better than radio, in large part because I could actually identify bands and songs with MTV), drew, and wrote bad fantasy and angst-laden journal entries.
Oh, and on rare occassions I did homework.
Where did you work?
Amazingly, I did have a job. I worked eight hours a work reading (well, ostensibly, shelving) books at the local branch library. It was a mile from my home and I usually biked to work. As jobs went, it was pretty cool.
Did you take the bus?
Yes. What a dull question. Who put this one in here?
Who did you have a crush on?
No one. I didn't get my first crush until college.
Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Of actual people, no one. I was occassionally smitten by characters from novels, but I don't remember if I had any fictional crushes in my senior year. Possibly Morgan from Katherine Kurtz's Deryni trilogy, or Rochester from Jane Eyre.
Did you fight with your parents?
Now and then, mostly over my lousy grades and worse study habits.
Did you smoke cigarettes?
No. Blech.
Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker?
No. I lugged them all around because I was too lazy to run back to my locker between classes.
Did you have a 'clique'?
No. By my senior year I was no longer reviled throughout the school and had some friendly acquaintences with whom I ate lunch. But we didn't have much in common and very rarely did anything outside of school.
Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?
My first thought was of the superhero that turned to to be a rabbit, too. I gather from CaffeineWabbit's comments that this is something to do with "Saved by the Bell", but I still have no idea what the question means.
Admit it, were you popular?
No, although I was largely ignored by this point, which made me exceedingly happy. I really liked being ignored, because it was such and improvement over being tormented.
Who did you want to be just like?
Marion Zimmer Bradley, maybe. I wanted to be a successful author.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I had a list: artist, author, computer programmer, or teacher. Author generally topped the list. I think I would've liked artist just as well, but author always seemed more plausible. Programmer/teacher were my "realistic" ambitions.
Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
I thought I'd be a programmer, or perhaps a technical writer. (Technical writer would've been a good fit for my skillset, in fact, but I never put the necessary energy into finding emloyment in that field.)

Date: 2005-01-26 02:31 am (UTC)I could identify with that in high school. (I was fortunate in that that transition happened for me as early as my sophomore year. Well, mostly.)
Wow, your career list looked similar to my own (except "teacher" came a bit later for me than the others. And it's never something that I thought I would ever be able to do without feeling like an utter hypocrite.)
(That reminds me, I'm writing an entry on OD about the "if you could pick any job" theme question; I'm probably going to truncate it, because it goes into boring detail about my history of failed computer game designs, but I might save the full version to post on LJ, where I'm not overly concerned about losing readers. ';P)
