Natural disaster

A 9.0 offshore earthquake caused a tsunami yesterday that struck several countries. "Struck". That hardly seems the right word. Nor does "swamped". Flattened, maybe. Current estimates place over 22,000 dead and the damages in the billions of dollars.

I don't know what to say.

In case anyone wants to give to the Red Cross relief effort, but isn't fond of the politics of the International Red Cross, the American Red Cross is also involved in this relief effort, and Amazon.com has a banner on their web page (or at least the version of it that I see) directing you to the fund for this effort.
