In Memoriam

This is one of the pictures I took while on vacation, of the flag flying from the ferry, and the mountains of Port Angeles in the background. Today, it seemed like an appropriate image.

I wish I had some words to go with it, something stirring and poignant to express how I feel. But I don't. All I have to say is this:

To those who fight, and those who have fallen: Thank you.

I also don't have the right words for this day, so I'll just silently salute the image you've provided and be grateful for all the things that the sacrifices of so many soldiers in previous generations and today have helped America build here and abroad.

I did not have words until I saw this. I had been vaguely burbling but had done nothing about it.

Now, nearly too late, I found something to say.
