A different branch of my bank was robbed this afternoon, about an hour ago. No one got hurt.

I guess on the bright side, even though bank robberies are common, injuries as a result are very rare rare.

And, no, I wouldn't call in sick. Here I am at work again. I expect Koogrr and Scott meant their suggestions more as sympathy than to be taken seriously. And at least I don't work the teller line. I'd be happier if I wasn't in the lobby at all ... but, eh, I am tucked out of sight.

I don't have any details on either robbery, though I'd be inclined to think they were unrelated. It seems like the bozo from the first attempt *meant* to hurt someone, and I think he *would* have if he tried again. :(

Declare the bank a "No Nutcase Zone"!

Put up signs everywhere with a Red circle crossing out
Mr. Peanut, and get the newspapers to print up a story
about it!

Then you can hand out fliers saying that your bank will
no longer support nutcases.

And then you could get people to come around and sing protest songs and wave placards that say "No Blood For Money"!

And if hundreds of placard waving protest song singing hippies doesn't scare bankrobbers, I dunno what will!

Bank Robbers are Busy People

If I remember the layout of that branch of Toddler bank correctly, you're completely invisible from the enterence. Considering that bank robbers are normally in quite a hurry (and don't really have any motivation to conduct a search), you're probably much safer than the tellers.

Anyway, I hope that this rash of bank robberies stops quickly since whatever the true risk calculation is, this is probably stressful for you and your coworkers (even people who know the odds are likely to be indirectly effected by the feelings of those who don't).

Gah. *Grym emails Rowyn one patented handy-dandy suit o' armor* There's been a rash of bank robberies around here as well, with First Citizens (our bank) seeming to get hit harder than most. No one's been hurt, thankfully. It did cause one of the smaller branches to lock their doors permanently, however; they only do business at the drive-thru tellers now. Since this was the bank just down the street from us, it was vaguely irritating - but nevertheless understandable. Keep safe, Rowyn!

Yah, I can't say I blame a small branch for doing it. They may not have had any real *choice*. I mean, the branch that was hit Monday only had the branch manager and the tellers there. Frankly, I'm impressed the branch manager came back to work the next day, after having a gun pointed at her face. I can easily see that being enough to make me quit.

I'm pretty sure you've never been to my current location, but I'm still not visible from the entrance, though not as well-hidden as at the previous two. And this would be a terrible bank to hit for a take-hostages, clean-the-vault style of robbery. Typical robbery of one teller window, yeah, I'd never even know it happened until it was over.
