I love this! I don't agree with it 100%, but the arguments are well thought-out. (For example, Sandman did fit all 7 criteria for the first several years; but for some odd reason, one didn't see the Endless making cameos in other books. :)
Hmm, I'd love to reprint this in my comics fanzine/APA, with your permission of course... It could make for interesting debate. :)
