*laughs* My internal narration goes like this:
"But Micah would write that much in a week and call herself a slacker on vacation at the end of it!"
"Why, Ursula Vernon probably finished two MG books and fully-illustrated both in the time I've been working on one piddly novella!"
"Even I wrote a novella in July! Why couldn't I finish one in August and September COMBINED?"
And then I remind myself that when I got back to writing in 2002, I set up a "master plan" for finishing the book I was working on. It required me to write about 10,000 words a month, and it was a constant struggle to meet that goal; a painful slog. And here I made it, and all I do is go "why am I so slooooooow?"
