It's like a train wreck... I don't want to watch it but I can't look away! Dear God, will you two talk to each other?? Honesty! Trust! That's the foundation for a relationship, I believe... Here's an example:
Nik: "Considering the nature of our relationship, accepting money from you makes me uncomfortable."
Justin: "I love you and I only want to help you, since you work so hard and I have the means to make your life easier."
Nik: "I appreciate the thought, but it makes me feel obligated to you in a way that is not compatible with our continued friendship and respect for each other."
Justin: "Very well, but if you ever need my help in any way, please don't hesitate to ask."
... No? No, I guess not... then there'd be no plot. And it would require both of them to think kind of like Wisteria, lol. I sure hope she'll sort them out in time! :-)
Just out of curiosity, how many words does the novel have? In the other post, you say it's about double the size people look for in a first novel (... what a silly notion?) and by parts, we're not quite half-way through...
