The exception for Blessings in plant and stone is interesting, one can read quite a bit into that. Nik's answer is moral, and yet at the same time somewhat simplistic... *if* the argument about developing Blessings is valid.
I'm inclined towards free markets myself, and have already felt tension in the setting between that ideal and the 'must take all petitioners' part of the Code. Interestingly, I suspect it's not the poor that are truly the issue, though. I wonder if the rich have a tendency not to pay all they could...
I'll keep further speculation to myself, I'm curious where this thread goes (if anywhere, I can see it being entirely tangent to the plot and it feels like an old argument that has been rehashed many times). I'm beginning to understand Nik's impatience with how humans see his Blessing...
