I think of the greatcats kind of like palanquin bearers or rickshaw-pullers. Yeah, it's kinda crappy that the society doesn't have machines or even horses to do manual labor, but they don't. :/ Greatcats end up doing a lot of the manual labor in this society, because they are so much stronger than humans. Humans do more of the fine-control tasks, because they have opposable thumbs.
