I'd wager that in his mind, he was just doing the equivalent of tugging on her sleeve to get her attention. It was the leash he could do under the circumstances.
We've seen the pattern of oblivionated items: Not just that they are no longer there, but that history is re-written such that they never existed. "In fact, Minmax has never worn boots!" I would wager that the birthday party, fuzzy mushrooms and all, is (no longer) history. That is sad indeed.
