I would agree. He was trying to get her attention, not wrest her control, it seemed to me — and when he realized his mistake, he was quick to apologize. But with certain of Kin's memories obliterated, she had lost a background from which to better judge Minmax. Something is still there, but it has too many holes.
Kin has realized in the past that the holes in her memory (in other contexts) were significant. Perhaps she can break through here, as well. But it seems increasingly unlikely, given separation and the implications of the Prophecy.
