Yeah, that's fair to say -- it's not like any of the male other characters get to be useful either. Although Harry doesn't need to rescue them all. Really, there's three women in the supporting cast that he has to rescue to one degree or another, and one who dies because he's not around to rescue her, plus the one who dies to initiate the book's mystery. (A man gets killed at the same time, so that bit was gender-balanced). It seemed kind of excessive by the end there.
