If you want tall shoes, maybe you should try getas and a Japanese kimono sort of attire! I'm sure you'd look great in it.
I've danced only maybe once or twice in my life ever, and have no idea how to do it formally. Though I think at parties the intention is that you don't do it formally, but for fun, and whatever works, go for it?
