Hmm, I should have split up my previous comment. Regarding the SF novel, I don't have anything against it because it didn't grab you. I've read multiple books where they failed to grab me on my first attempt, usually for real-life reasons that had nothing to do with them, but on a second attempt I enjoyed them. The reason I'm asking for the title is so I can read it.
