It was sad and disappointing to have a Christian write me privately recently to tell me that I could not possibly have ethics or morals since I was not a Christian.
I'm going through my journal and sorting things into memories (because, you know, it's just one of those things that is oh-so-much-more-important than doing, say, work) and came upon this.
That line still aggravates me. I don't know what's with people who think being a good person is somehow connected to holding the right religious views. On this basis, some people give nominal "Christians" far more credit than they deserve, and condemn atheists without cause. It's maddening. Those with the "wrong" religious views -- whatever "wrong" may be, atheist or Jewish or Muslim or Christian -- merit more consideration than that.
