The cage, as I envisioned it in my original metaphor, is my whole life. My VR friends, my all-but nonexistant RL socializing, my job, my obligations, be they to my friends, or employers, or myself -- everything. Yesterday's little outburst would be me saying 'I can/should do more than this' -- or rather, something other than this.
Is my life really a cage? Should I feel confined by it? Should I be trying to escape it? Obviously, I tend to think 'no.' Otherwise, I'd spend a lot more time angsting.
