It's hard to get past that point of needing a pretext! I still don't know many people I'm comfortable calling "just to chat, no reason".
Knocking on a stranger's door ... I dunno, I don't know if I can muster the courage to knock on the door of the neighbor who mowed my lawn and ask her to mow it again. :)
