I am highly reluctant to recommend music to anyone, because I always feel put on the spot when someone recommends it to me, as I am then somehow obligated to humor them and listen to said music, and if they later ask me how I liked it, I have to either disappoint them or lie to them (unless fate smiles upon me at it turns out to be music I actually enjoy. But that's often not the case.)
As for movies, I can't think of anything I saw recently that I would recommend. I'll give it some thought, and get back to you.
