This is a sketch I've been working on since the flight back from Florida. It's got the most detailed background I've ever drawn. Not necessarily the best, but the one with the most fiddly bits in it.

Doesn't look so good in black and white; all the little figures are very stark against the white spaces. I plan to color the original with markers and maybe colored pencils; no idea how that's going to go. If it goes badly, I might try coloring it digitally, although I'm rather intimidated at the thought of digitally coloring all those little figures. O_O

Or I might try re-doing it on a larger piece of paper. This was done in my 9x12 sketchbook, so it's pretty small for having so many fiddly bits in it.

Wow! Lots of "fiddly bits" indeed! It seems that the breach in that wall closes by massive horizonal movement of the wall itself -- and will be a challenge to get through. The defenders in the distance are preparing, and ...

An amusing Escheresc optical illusion: It seems that the rapelling soldier is coming down from the bed onto the end of the gate, which obviously is a few feet toward the viewer. It makes for a momentary double-take. Accidental, I think, but it works.

And she has a grim war-face indeed. Determined-looking!
