I decided to color the picture of the three females in kimonos that I posted a few weeks ago.

I don't exactly know why I decided to color it. It wasn't a profound desire to see this piece in color. It was a lacksadaisical decision: "Well, I haven't colored anything in a long time, this piece is better than anything else I've done lately. And I don't feel like writing so I may as well paint."

I colored it digitally, and can consider that part of my ongoing mission to justify having purchased a tablet two or three years ago.

I put a fair bit of work into this, and I can still name dozens of things that I don't like and think "I really ought to fix that". Then again, so what else is new? Lacksadaisical motivation only carries me so far, so I'm declaring it done and kicking it out the door. Besides, I almost feel like writing again.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to do four finished pieces of art. I had pictures of this sort in mind when I made that resolution. I think so far this is the first I've done this year.

So, um. I may be doing some more pieces soon.

Hey, there's still over a month left... You have time! :) And this is very pretty. I love how the golden fox appears on the white tiger's kimono and vice versa. I noticed this in the line art, but the color really sets it off.

And you wondered why....

Ooo... Excellent. I like the out-of-focus background too, it gives it a photographic effect.

Huzzah! It looks good overall. I think the only thing that stands out that I'd want to fix would be the tree branch and perspective on the background - the branch is too straight and draws attention to the architecture, where you're drawing the lines, again, parallel to each other where you'd want them to lead to a vanishing point on the horizon. The characters themselves look very nice!
