There's this YouTube channel I like to watch every now and then, Vampire Robot, which posts B-roll and personal videos from decades past. These are fascinating to me as someone who was too young to appreciate the 1990s when I was living in them (and never got to experience the '80s)... but man, the endless "this decade was paradise!" comments really start to grate after a while.
Most relevantly to this post: there's a lot of "not a smartphone in sight, as it should be". Now, I don't like using my phone, but I know from experience that human interaction sucked just as much without phones as it does with.
(I will say that "third spaces" are increasingly vanishing, but that's not the fault of phones.)
