Non Sequitor often goes off on how worthless and biased the media has become (pro-industrialist, pro-government, pro-Republican). In his strips, anyone in the media who points this out is inevitably silenced or fired.

It amuses me that he is published in the same rampantly-censoring-of-liberals environment.

I guess he figures no one pays enough attention to the funny pages to censor them. :D

You want disturbing?

Couple of things really bother me about this article, beyond even the statement of events:

1) I can find no major-media reports on this incident. Sheriff Arpaio is already notorious. The incident described in this article, and backed by another local outlet, is at best intolerably incompetent, and at worst criminal. It ought to be outrageous. So why was it only local news?

2) The Phoenix New Times article has a distinctly unprofessional look about it. The reporter clearly has an axe to grind against Sheriff Arpaio ... which has the unfortunate side effect of making me trust him less. The Ahwatukee Foothills News report right after the fact sounds a lot more reasonable -- but then again, it's pretty easy to imagine the sheriff's department offering that version of events, and a reporter accepting it, regardless of its accuracy.

Brr. I wish I could find out more, and from a source I could fully trust. Then again ... what sources are trustworthy, these days?
