If I got anything done at all tonight, it was not for lack of trying by [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar. (Little mindless puzzle games will be my downfall yet).

Actually, tonight wasn't too bad. I've been on a Silver Scales kick and got another entry done for that story, bringing me to three for the week. Unfortunately, this has not done commeasurately good things for my progress on Prophecy: four days in to the week, and so far I've put a half hour in on that. And I didn't get much actually written in that half hour, either. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.

I also haven't been updating this journal much, either. That's more of a quirk than a concern for me, though. I'm supposed to write in here when I have something to say, and not when I don't, and that's that.

Except, of course, that I have had plenty to say. I just haven't gotten around to saying it. I was thinking of doing an essay about small business vs big business vs government, but I don't know if I will or not. Not tonight, anyway. But at least now I've written down that I was thinking about it, which gives me at least a snowball's chance in Florida of remembering the topic the next time I'm thinking "I'd like to write in my journal, but what about?"

The dry spell continues in Emerald City, everywhere except my basement. It hasn't rained for a week and a half and there's still water leaking through the cracks between basement wall and floor. In fact, I don't know that there's any difference between the trickle of water I'm getting now and the trickle of water I was getting when it last rained. There's no precipitation predicted in the next seven days, though, so who knows: maybe it'll dry out one of these days. I may get sick of waiting and do it this weekend anyway, however. Put that "stops active leaks" claim to the test.

I bought a chisel yesterday, to help get the old crumbly masonry up so that I can put down nice new solid masonry. Haven't tried it out yet, but it looks very sturdy and useable. I got a masonry chisel and I'm half afraid I'm going to chisel up the actual foundation with the thing, instead of just the crappy sealant that's been laid over it. Still, it's not like I'm a big tough guy hacking away at it with a pickaxe or a jackhammer. I expect it'll be fine.

Hmm. I thought I had more to say, and I guess I did, but I'm too tired to say it. G'night, all.

Well, maybe after just one more game of Text Twist....
