I drew a human skeleton today.

Why I drew it is a little complicated. See, I started out trying to draw this really cute ground squirrel that [livejournal.com profile] ursulav had very nicely provided me with a high-res image of. That wasn't coming out too well, and I thought to myself, "Maybe it's because I don't know anything about ground squirrel skeletal structure or musculature or, in fact, anything except what I can see in this particular picture right here."

The logical thing to do would be to find something out about ground squirrel skeletal structure.

But, since that would be hard, I decided to talk to [livejournal.com profile] level_head instead.

Skeleton! More or less. However, I didn't want to give up on my sketching ambitions entirely, so while I talked to Level Head, I started sketching a human skeleton from my artist's anatomy book. I made the mistake of saying "This is coming out fairly well. I think I'll scan it and post it when I finish it."

Having said this, I felt a very silly obligation to, you know, finish it. Fortunately, I got to the edge of the paper by mid-thigh, so I didn't need to do the whole thing. But by the time I was done, I was well past the point of thinking it was coming out well. Still, what do I know about how good it is? I just drew it. Y'all can decide for yourselves.
