RoomWorldCon
I got my official invitation to be Artist Guest of Honor at RoomWorldCon.
jimmyholloman asked me to do an illustration for the cover of the conbook. I don't know if he had any ideas in mind (did you, Jimmy?) But I'm thinking about it. I'm half-tempted to do some kind of riff of Disney's "It's a Small World" ride. Like "It's a Small World(Con)" . With chibi characters in "traditional" costumes: American cowboys and Dutch girls in wooden shoes and bellydancers and whatnot, only with fennish elemets, like
antenna or space helmets or elf ears, or doing the Vulcan "Live Long and Prosper" gesture. (Remember learning to do that gesture? Remember how DeForest Kelley never could?)
But I don't know. Anyone else have suggestions? =)

It's a Small World(Con)
(I confess to being rather fond of trying to emulate others' art styles and doing some sort of "twist" - e.g., trying to do a piece "Mucha-style", or "ancient Egyptian style", etc. It's tough, because I'm too tempted to try to "correct" certain elements of the style ... or else I'm drawing something that is so far removed from the normal subject matter, I'm not sure how to make it fit.)

The idea holds promise. Now you'd need to um, filk the lyrics too, right?
