The Grass Is Always Greener ....

The shower was backing up again when I took a shower this evening. The treatment didn't seem to have done much good. I plungered it and it started to drain eventually.

Then toilet drained slowly, too, and i noticed something else: water leaking out around its base.

I decided to go to the basement. I don't know what I expected to find. Occassionally in the past there's been a leak in the basement ceiling after Lut takes a shower, but every time I've checked after one of my own, it's been dry.

Today, I found the basement was flooded. It can't still be wet from the launrdy machine flooding, can it ... ?

No, there's more water than there was Thursday.

And it smells like sewage.

...

The septic tank is being pumped tomorrow.

Ouch.

I'm not sure what kind of "hopefully" I want for your situation.

(Note: my father's apartment up north [Overland Park] has given instructions to leave the faucet on a trickle, to prevent pipes from freezing. I hope that isn't what befell the septic system....)
