May 1: State of the Loveseat

In non-medical news: on 4/22, I had a video call with a furniture repair person, where I crawled about the loveseat and heaved it onto its back so that he could get a clear look at the underside. He diagnosed the issue and made notes about the parts and labor needed, and told us he'd contact La-Z-Boy with the list and they would get back to us with a quote within the next five business days.

On April 26, La-Z-Boy called us. As they'd said previously, the parts are covered by warranty but the shipping and   labor isn't. The total cost would be about $600. We might be able to get a manual reclining loveseat for that much, but we definitely couldn't get another automatic reclining loveseat. Moreover, in-home repair of the current loveseat gets us out of the nightmare of making my house Navigable By Loveseat. I agreed. The La-Z-Boy rep said the parts would be shipped to us within three weeks. The rep would send an email, and once we received the parts, we just had to reply to the email and then they'd call us to schedule the visit to have the parts installed. (So much nicer than having to call them and sit on hold to schedule, lemme tell you.)

Today, we received the parts. I dragged one box from the porch into the front hall and shoved it out-of-the-way-ish (it's HEAVY). The other was larger but lighter, and I was able to pile it on top of other boxes. I replied to the scheduling email, and they called me back. Soonest available was May 18. So with luck, we'll have a functional loveseat again on May 18. The repair is scheduled to take 3 hours so that doesn't sound like fun, but none of the options have been.
