Yeah, I read Cook's noir-fantasy-detective as a teen and remember it as okay. I have no idea how I'd feel about it now. There are so many books that I don't remember anything beyond whether I liked it at the time, and a lot of the time I feel differently when I re-read.

It just makes me kind of tired.

Exactly. It's like it's not bad enough, or I don't have enough energy left, to get really upset about it. It's just ... "oh yeah this again. Still." *sigh*
