It's possible I'll end up with too many players, though PBEM (in my one experience!) scales up better than MUCK RP. +TB+ started with 5 players + 1 GM and had 5 players + 2 GMs at one point, which I thought worked pretty well. The players do a lot of RP with each other in +TB+, which takes pressure off the GM to entertain everyone all the time. This is true in MUCK RP too, actually, but I always found it intimidating to keep up with logs that ran while I wasn't around, and if I had to be there for the session then it wasn't as much of a break.
So I'd like to have at least 5 or 6 players. Come to think of it, Game of October *did* have 6 players, so yeah, that number seems emminently manageable. :)
A total of 10 people have expressed an interest. I expect that number will winnow itself down before launch, without anyone specifically bowing out to make room for the others. If the number hasn't dropped, I'll look for volunteers for NPC parts.
I'm not sure what my limit for PCs should be. Higher than 6 and lower than 10, I think. :)
