The B-word

Sometime yesterday, the sump pump stopped working. Not sure what happened to it; power appears fine, float's not stuck. (I even tried plugging the pump in directly, bypassing the float -- no luck). Looks like the motor just burned itself out.

So, there's a couple of inches of water in my basement now. And, presumably, rising, since the pump's still not working. I left a message for my plumber, who will hopefully call back soonish.

After verifying that the pump wasn't working and that I couldn't fix it, I started walking to work. About halfway there ... it started to rain.

But, you know, all things considered: my life is pretty good. :)
